A modern marvel
For some, the recent advances in modern technology are hard to believe. Space X is planning to put a man on Mars by 2024, artificial intelligence is making self-driving vehicles a reality, and surf lifestyle brand Vissla is developing innovative boardshorts called 'Dredges'. It was my designation to test out a pair of the Vissla Dredges as research for the world's most ground-breaking surf shop, Drift House.
Upon first glance, the Vissla Dredges look like an ordinary throwback to the boardshorts of the 1970's - simple and clean with a racing stripe. Once I put on the Dredges, however, I was quickly aware that this was something different. It's evident that these boardshorts were designed for comfort and performance. The upcycled poly cotton stretch material and the scalloped side seam allow for maximum flexibility and a full range of motion.
I began to test the limits of these Dredges by paddling out at the Pier in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Within moments of the Dredges being submerged in saltwater, the boardshorts began to cling to my legs as if they knew the loose material would create drag in the water. I was paddling faster and catching waves from 3 miles outside of the break.
At the end of my 11-hour session, I began walking from the ocean to my Jeep. In that short walk, the Dredges dried. Apparently, my walking triggered some sort of self-drying mechanism that Vissla engineered? I thought to myself, 'What are these things?!' I decided to head home to settle down and gather my thoughts.
What did I just experience? How were these boardshorts reading my mind? Was there some kind of sensor weaved into the fabric that indicated to the Dredges what I wanted? Growing tired, I decided to sit on my couch to watch Clone Wars (not thinking that the Vissla Dredges were well ahead of my intentions). Silently and seamlessly, they transitioned into pajama shorts, allowing me to fall asleep without changing.
I awoke to the realization that Vissla had created something more than a pair of boardshorts. The Dredges are a 'forever-short'. With self cleaning fibers that are activated during any surf session, there is no need to change from the Dredges to another pair of shorts. Vissla's technology features self-drying, self-cleaning surfwear, sleepwear (we also recommend the Sofa Surfers), drive-wear (tested while traveling for Taco Bell), and work-wear (tested at Drift House).
With unrivaled versatility and value, the Vissla Dredges are pioneering new ground for function and durability. Alongside Drift House Surf Shop, we highly recommend this product: Vissla Clothing
