The ASICS GEL-CUMULUS 16 is making its return this Friday, August 15. Returning in the Cream/Ivory and Cloud Grey colorways, the shoe combines its proven performance heritage with updated details and fresh style.
First released in 2014, the GEL‑CUMULUS 16 earned its reputation through exceptional cushioning perfect for long-distance running. It stood out in the early 2010s for blending bold technical design with reliable performance. Over the years it became a staple among runners who valued soft underfoot comfort paired with smooth transitions.
ASICS preserves the core features runners love. Dual GEL technology in both forefoot and rearfoot ensures effective shock absorption. The midsole blends FLUIDRIDE and FLYTEFOAM to retain responsive yet flexible cushioning. The upper layers combine matte synthetic leather overlays with no‑sew paneling and open mesh underlays to shape a performance silhouette that nods to its 2010s roots.
The Cream/Ivory version highlights vibrant green and pink overlay details for contrast. It mirrors the heritage design while injecting a contemporary energy. The Cloud Grey colorway offers a more subdued, monochrome alternative for those seeking a toned-down take. The sockliner uses solution dyeing. That process uses roughly a third less water and cuts carbon emissions by nearly half compared to traditional dyeing methods.
