Nike SB teams up with Arts-Rec Skateshop for a two-shoe collaboration that celebrates skate culture and the creative energy of San Diego. This collab collection features the Dunk Low Pro and the return of Nike SB's edition of the Air Trainer 1. Each drawing inspiration from local wildlife, terrain, and the vibrant community that helped shape the California based shop’s identity. Release information below.

Arts-Rec Skateshop was opened in 2018 by pro skateboarder Kellen James, a San Diego native who started skating in the southeast part of the city. He came up through the Smolik-era Shorty’s scene and later became a core part of DGK. The shop began in Bankers Hill as a blend of retail, design, and creative direction, shaped by James’ experience in skateboarding and his connection to the city. The name Arts-Rec is a nod to the local Parks and Recreation system where he and his friends spent time skating growing up. Over time, it has grown into a space that carries skate goods, apparel, and in-house collections, along with collaborations that reflect San Diego’s history and skate culture.

The Nike SB x Arts-Rec Dunk Low Pro highlights San Diego’s natural color palette with a mix of Rust Pink, Rough Green, and Earth tones. The upper blends leather and suede, while the overlays feature a cheetah-like print inspired by a local wildlife institution’s 99-acre park. A shaggy suede Swoosh in Vachetta Tan adds texture, and dual Arts-Rec and Nike SB branding appears throughout the shoe. The design ties back to San Diego’s diverse landscapes and the raw creative energy that defines the city.

The Air Trainer 1 returns in this collection with updates tailored for skateboarding. This version features a color mix of Earth and Dusty Peach, again pulling from the hues of San Diego’s natural surroundings. The forefoot strap reads “Rec” and includes ribbed detailing for a nod to archival Air Trainer builds. The toe box and heel overlays echo the animal print seen on the Dunk, while the upper mixes tumbled leather, suede, and textured overlays for added durability and grip. The midsole uses a classic off-white tone, sitting above a gum and burgundy outsole built for skate function. The Air Trainer 1 was first introduced to skate through legends like Gino Iannucci and continues that tradition with this reimagined version.
