Nike SB is set to reissue the Paul Rodriguez Zoom Air Low P-Rod 1 in its original white and black colorway releasing this Friday, marking the 20th anniversary of the shoe's initial release. Originally released in 2005, the P-Rod 1 was Nike SB's first ever signature skateboarding shoe, developed in collaboration with pro skater Paul Rodriguez, more notoriously known as "P-Rod".

Paul Rodriguez is a professional skateboarder from Los Angeles who began his career at just at an early age. By 14, he secured his first sponsorship with a local skate shop, and at 16, he joined City Stars, earning the coveted last part in their video "Street Cinema." His talent and dedication led him to turn professional in 2002 with Girl Skateboards, where he had a part in the video "Yeah Right!". Throughout his career, Rodriguez has amassed eight X Games medals, including four golds, and has been a prominent figure in competitions like Street League Skateboarding and Tampa Pro. In 2008, he founded Primitive Skateboarding, which evolved into a full-fledged brand by 2014, collaborating with various artists and franchises. Beyond his competitive achievements, Rodriguez has been instrumental in shaping skateboarding culture and continues to influence the sport through his brand and mentorship.

Back from the archives, the 2025 reissue of the Nike SB P-Rod 1 stays true to its original design while incorporating subtle updates to enhance performance and commemorate its 20th anniversary. The upper is constructed from premium full-grain leather, providing durability and a classic aesthetic. A black mesh Swoosh overlays the leather, and the heel features a quilted "PR" pattern, a signature detail from the original release. The tongue and Swoosh are crafted from mesh, offering breathability and comfort. A padded tongue adds to the early-2000s skate style.

The shoe's cupsole construction ensures durability and support, essential for skateboarding. A Zoom Air unit in the heel provides responsive cushioning, enhancing comfort during impact. The outsole has been updated to a semi-translucent finish, replacing the original's matte black, and includes a visible shank plate for added support and stability.

To commemorate the 20th anniversary, platinum accents adorn the tongue branding, topmost eyelet, and custom engraved "SHS" lace dubraes. These metallic details differentiate this release from the original, adding a celebratory touch.
