Metalwood Studio comes out of Los Angeles with a point of view built around golf from the ’90s and early 2000s. Their world pulls from the era when golf was moving away from persimmon woods and balata balls into faster equipment, baggier fits, strange pro-shop energy, and a less polished version of the game. Metalwood has turned that into clothing, accessories, golf gear, and collaborations that sit somewhere between golf, skateboarding, and streetwear.
That mix is what makes the adidas x Metalwood Predator Sala make sense. The shoe starts with the Predator Sala, an indoor soccer silhouette with a slim shape and fold-over tongue. Metalwood’s version pulls the shoe into skateboarding while keeping the soccer shape intact, turning a court shoe into something that works through a different lens.
This pair comes in a full black colorway with soft suede, nylon, and patent leather across the upper. The material mix does most of the work: matte texture from the suede, slight shine from the patent overlays, and a tougher utility feel from the nylon. Branding stays quiet, with tonal Metalwood hits on the tongue and insoles.
The bigger story is the crossover. Metalwood is a golf brand with roots in skate and art circles, working with adidas on a soccer shoe through adidas Skateboarding. Golf, skateboarding, and indoor football all land on one silhouette, but the shoe does not feel forced into any single lane. The Predator Sala keeps its low profile and old indoor shape, while the blacked-out materials and skate-minded build give it a different edge.
