Some of the most important skate communities don’t start with brands or campaigns. It all comes down to the people showing up, skating together, and building something real. Bronx Girls Skate was founded in 2020 by Mel Ramirez and Kava Vasquez in the Bronx, New York. Initially, what started as two friends skating together became a growing community focused on creating space for women, femmes, and gender-expansive skaters. Their goal was simple and still is: make skateboarding more accessible, visible, and welcoming in their city giving skateboarding more ways to be celebrated.

Since then, Bronx Girls Skate has organized skate meetups, community sessions, and events across NYC. They’ve built a network rooted in support, progression, and representation, especially in a scene where those voices have historically been overlooked. Their impact has been felt locally and nationally, connecting skaters who might not have otherwise seen themselves reflected in skate culture.

Nike SB’s partnership with Bronx Girls Skate comes from shared involvement in local skate communities. Nike SB has a long history of working directly with crews and skaters who are active in their cities, and this collaboration highlights a group that has built something through consistent effort and on-the-ground work.

The Nike SB Dunk Low Pro x Bronx Girls Skate keeps the focus on function and detail. The shoe features a black textured leather upper with red, green, and orange accents pulled from New York City subway lines. Additional details include translucent outsoles with custom artwork, “The Bronx, The World” text, gold heel jewelry, and co-branded elements throughout. The result is a Dunk that reflects where it comes from without overstatement.

We will be hosting a nationwide online raffle on Thursday 1/22 at 2PM EST. Entry will be available through the sign-up link that will be attached at the top of this page. Winners will be selected and emailed invoices on Friday 1/23.
