Nike SB Air Max 95 "Cactus Flower"

The Nike SB Air Max 95 “Cactus Flower” is the first time this iconic Nike Air silhouette has been adapted specifically for skateboarding. Originally built for running, the Air Max 95 has always stood out for its bold design and layered construction. Now, thirty years after its debut, Nike SB gives it a new life with functional updates for the skate community.

Designed by Sergio Lozano in 1995, the original Air Max 95 took inspiration from the human body, with a gradient upper mimicking muscle fibers and a midsole that resembled a spine. Its aggressive styling and visible Air cushioning broke the mold for running shoes at the time and quickly became a cultural staple. For its 30th anniversary, Nike SB reworks the classic through the lens of skateboarding, balancing heritage design with performance-driven enhancements.

The SB Air Max 95 “Cactus Flower” features layered mesh, suede, and leather panels in shades of Summit White, Cool Grey, and Photon Dust. The signature wavy design lines remain, accented by Cactus Flower hits on the lace loops, mini Swoosh, sockliner, and Air units. Nike SB branding is subtle, appearing on the heel and tongue, while the shoe’s fit and structure have been updated to be better suited on a board.

A lower ride height gives better board feel, and the cupsole has been refined for flexibility right out of the box. Extra padding has been added around the heel, tongue, and collar for enhanced comfort. The outsole uses a herringbone tread pattern and gum rubber compound for improved grip and traction. All of these adjustments help the shoe feel natural on a board while preserving the DNA of the original Air Max 95.
